RSO Resources/FAQ

The Student Life RSO Handbook

is a great resource for student organizations.  In it, you can find, hopefully, all of the answers to your questions, but please feel free to contact us for additional information.  Click here to download the current RSO Handbook.

How do I promote my RSO or EVENT?

To create or update your RSO webpage, email, or V-space information, please contact Trish in Student Life via email at tmgohm@svsu.edu.

All Registered Student Organizations are allowed to send two mass e-mails to the SVSU Student community per semester. These mass e-mails can be used for the purpose of promoting your organization or on-campus events your organization is sponsoring. This e-mail system cannot be used for promotion of off-campus events. The content of the e-mail must be submitted to kbrand@svsu.edu for review and release to the student life mailing list.

Please review the SVSU Posting Policy to make sure that your RSO is complying with the Student Life Center standards.

How do I get an informational table for my RSO?

FYI for all RSO's and RSO Advisors: For all table reservations-your group must submit a blue form-which can be picked up from the SLC. Since table space is limited, the blue form will ensure that your table is reserved for you for the time required.  If an RSO uses a table without submitting a blue form, this might result in further action being taken. Please contact Kim at kbrand@svsu.edu with any questions.

My RSO needs funding, where do I start?

Student Life offers two different funding opportunities for student organizations. If you are looking to host an event and want to take it to the next level, Valley Nights can help you do that.  Just complete the Valley Nights grant application and turn it into the Student Life front desk.

If your student organization is looking to attend a conference or wants to do a community service project and you need some extra funding, then simply complete the Conference and Professional Development Fund application and turn it into the Student Life front desk.Your application will be reviewed by the committee and you will be notified of available funding via e-mail.

My RSO wants to raise our own funds, what do I need to know?
