Nominations are now being accepted for 2008.  You may print out and submit the nomination forms to Student Life.  The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 4, 2008.

Student Organization Awards

Please find below the descriptions of the annual Student Life Center awards.

Outstanding Program Award
Presented to an organization for a program that demonstrates excellence, commitment of the organization and creativity, while enhancing the quality of student programming at SVSU. 
CRITERIA:  Creativity, Campus Impact, Collaboration

Outstanding Service Award
Presented to an organization for a project demonstrates excellence and creativity in its implementation. The project will have shown the commitment of the organization to develop a new service initiative, enhance an existing community project or raise funds/materials for philanthropy of their choosing. 
CRITERIA:  Creativity, Campus or Community Impact, Collaboration

Best New Student Organization
Presented to a student organization that registered for the first time in the 2007-08 school year.  This organization will have demonstrated involvement in the SVSU community, creativity in programming and will have made a positive impact their first year on campus.
CRITERIA:  Involvement, Creativity, Positive impact on the SVSU community

Greek Organization of the Year
The Greek organization receiving this award exemplifies the mission of the SVSU Greek community which strives to promote standards of excellence through academics, leadership, involvement and service.  This organization shall remain active in recruiting new members; demonstrate creativity and collaboration, while embracing diversity and the values of their organization.
CRITERIA:  Promotes excellence in the Greek community, Creativity, Collaboration

Student Organization of the Year
This award is given to the student organization that has demonstrated remarkable spirit and has made a positive difference to the campus and local community during the 2007-08 school year.  Organization members shall demonstrate diversity in programming and membership as well as the ability to work as a team and show leadership.

Individual Student Awards

Teresa M. George Red Pride Spirit Award
This award, named after one of SVSU's most spirited students, is given to an individual who has exemplified the concept of Red Pride. This student supports a variety of programming including athletics, student organizations and the arts. This student should lead others to increase school spirit. 
CRITERIA:  Support of campus programming, Leads others in spirit, Involvement

Rising Leader Award
Presented to a freshman or sophomore (0-61 credits) who have been active in Student Life and have made a commitment to enhance the quality of Student Life at SVSU. Nominees should have demonstrated involvement in such areas as: student organizations, campus programming, and/or Residence Life. Rising Leaders have great potential to make a difference at SVSU. 
CRITERIA:  Involvement, Potential at SVSU, Leadership 

Impact Award
Presented to a junior or senior (62 + credits) who have been active in Student Life and have made a marked commitment to enhance the quality of Student Life at SVSU.  Nominees should have demonstrated involvement in such areas as: student organizations, campus programming, and/or Residence Life.
CRITERIA:  Involvement, Campus Impact, Leadership

Club Sport Athlete of the Year
This person shall have demonstrated leadership and initiative in further developing their club sport team.  This person shall be a role model for their team members and work to promote teamwork and sportsmanship among not only their own team, but among the SVSU community, as well.
CRITERIA:  Leadership, Initiative, Sportsmanship 

Gilby Award
The Gilby Award is presented to the outstanding athlete of Campus Recreation.    This person shall have participated in three or more intramural sports and won one or more intramural championships.  Additionally, this person shall have displayed a positive attitude in winning and in defeat, shown a competitive spirit and made a positive contribution to the Campus Recreation program.
CRITERIA:  Participation, Athletic excellence, Positive contribution 

Advisor of the Year
Presented to an advisor who goes above and beyond to assist their student organization.  Nominees should display high involvement with their organization(s), dedication to the campus community and play a role in the co-curricular/experience education of SVSU students.
