Pierce Road Construction Begins May 7

Pierce Road is scheduled to receive significant improvements designed to increase pedestrian safety and improve traffic flow between Bay Road (M-84) and South Entrance Drive. The project will include resurfacing and widening the roadway, adding left turn lanes, installing new curb and gutter, traffic islands and a roundabout at the intersection of Pierce and South Entrance Drive.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, May 7; the target completion date is Saturday, July 28.

During this period, Pierce Road will be closed to through traffic between Bay Road and Davis Road. Access to housing parking lots accessible only from Pierce Road will be maintained. Drivers who normally enter campus from Pierce Road should use the entrances on Bay Road or Davis Road.

The reconstruction project is a joint effort of the Saginaw County Road Commission, Kochville Township, the Kochville Township DDA, and SVSU.

Dump Your Drugs

University Police has recently implemented a program for safe disposal of unwanted or expired prescription and over-the-counter medications. The program has been implemented to ensure proper disposal of medications that should not be flushed or thrown in the garbage, along with reducing illegal use of drugs. There is a medicine drop box available at University Police 24/7. Students, staff and faculty can use this to properly dispose of medications, no questions asked.
