The Theodore Roethke Memorial Foundation has established an endowment through the SVSU Foundation. Supporters of The Theodore Roethke Poetry Endowment will be part of a proud tradition and will help create new endeavors.
Ultimately, the goal of the endowment also includes the Theodore Roethke Poet or Scholar-in-Residence at SVSU. As envisioned, the poet or scholar-in-residence would be a practicing poet or active researcher of national stature who would serve as a resource to the campus and community. A lovely, serene spot on the SVSU campus has been chosen for the Roethke Poets Garden. This beautifully-landscaped natural retreat pays fitting tribute to Roethke’s love of flowers and nature, and a suitable monument will be placed there, bearing the names of donors at giving levels above $1,200.
