Presidential Search Committee

The Saginaw Valley State University Board of Control appointed members to serve on a presidential search advisory committee and agreed to hire a consulting firm to assist them with the search process during a special meeting of the Board Thursday, July 11. Current SVSU President Eric R. Gilbertson announced his intent to retire from the position, upon selection of his successor.

The presidential search advisory committee will take effect Thursday, Aug. 1. It will be chaired by David Abbs, an SVSU alumnus whose term on the Board of Control expired July 21. Joining him will be:

  • Scott Carmona, Board of Control member and SVSU alumnus
  • Mitzi Dimitroff, a community representative who is the owner of RDS Management and a past chair of the Bay Area Chamber of Commerce
  • David Gamez, Board of Control member
  • Deborah Huntley,  dean of the College of Science, Engineering and Technology
  • James Jaime, a community representative who is the owner of Michigan Pipe and Valve and an SVSU alumnus
  • Dr. K.P. Karunakaran, past Board of Control member and current chair of the SVSU Foundation board
  • Dylan Kosaski, a biochemistry major from Stanwood and president of the SVSU Student Association
  • Bob Lane, professor of political science and president of the SVSU Faculty Association
  • Joseph Ofori-Dankwa, professor of management and Harvey Randall Wickes Endowed Chair in International Studies
  • David Ramaker, community representative
  • Elizabeth Rich, professor of English and chair of the SVSU honors program
  • Linda Sims, past Board of Control member and current member of the SVSU Foundation board of directors
  • Jenee Velasquez, Board of Control member
  • Michael Watson, SVSU director of athletics
  • Leola Wilson, Board of Control member whose term expires July 21
  • Jerome Yantz, Board of Control member
