The Vice President for Academic Affairs/Provost is the University's chief academic officer. Included within the unit are the Colleges of Arts & Behavioral Sciences; Business & Management; Education; Nursing & Allied Health Sciences; and Science, Engineering & Technology. In addition, the directors of the Bilingual Education Center and the Melvin J. Zahnow Library and the Executive Director of the Center for Science & Mathematics Education and the Interim Director of Sponsored Programs report to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The Dean of the College of Education leads five academic departments: Teacher Education--Elementary/Early Childhood/Special Education, Teacher Education Middle School & Secondary, Kinesiology, Educational Leadership & Service, and Educational Technology & Development. The Dean also supervises SVSU undergraduate education programs at St. Clair Community College in Port Huron, Michigan, and College of Education graduate programs at the Macomb Regional Education Center.

The Executive Director of the SVSU Foundation is responsible for advancing the mission of the University by raising private funds to support scholarships, programs, capital improvements, and other strategic initiatives. The Executive Director also provides leadership for Alumni Relations to further enhance goodwill and support from a giving number of alumni.

The Dean of the Crystal M. Lange College of Nursing & Health Sciences is responsible for administering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in nursing, occupational therapy, and medical technology. Each of these programs combines theoretical courses with an extensive clinical experience component to provide thorough professional knowledge and hands-on-skills.

The Dean of Student Affairs oversees a range of programs and services that are critical to a student's success at the University.  The offices that fall under the Dean's oversight are:  Campus Recreation, Career Planning and Placement, Counseling and Health Services, Disability Services, Minority Student Services, Residential Life, Student Conduct Programs and the Student Life Center.  The Dean works with students and student groups in these areas and establishes activities that enhance the SVSU student experience overall.

The Associate Vice President for Program Development & Graduate Recruitment is responsible for graduate student enrollment management, marketing SVSU graduate programs, and general oversight of the Office of Graduate Admissions.  This Associate Vice President works closely with many offices across campus in the implementation of graduate student recruitment and retention initiatives.  Other responsibilites include assisting the Vice President for Academic Affairs with academic strategic planning and program development, operation of the Office of Academic Affairs, and service on ad hoc campus committees as assigned.

The Ombudsman helps students resolve concerns, problems, or conflicts with regards to University policies, procedures, and decisions. The ombudsman provides for a confidential and neutral place for students to come to express their concerns. Students work with the ombudsman to identify steps that may be taken to achieve a timely and fair resolution to a problem. The ombudsman may collaborate with others in the University community regarding student concerns. The ombudsman is interested in both issue resolution and prevention in resolving both academic and non-academic concerns.

The Special Assistant to the President for Government Relations is responsible for government relations — state, federal and local. He also works with other campus departments and the president in order to develop data and other supportive material for SVSU's case(s) in Lansing. He also works with Kochville Township administration.

The Dean of the College of Arts & Behavioral Sciences is responsible for the administration of thirteen academic departments: Art, Communication, Criminal Justice, English, History, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, Philosophy, Political Science (and Public Administration), Psychology, Social Work (and Youth Services), Sociology, and Theater. The Dean also administers two graduate programs (Masters in Communication/Multi-Media and Masters in Leadership and Public Administration), the Marshall Fredericks Museum, the Bachelors in Applied Studies, the gender studies minor, the gerontology minor, and the International Studies major.

The Dean of the College of Science, Engineering & Technology is responsible for seven departments: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, and Physics.  In addition, the College offers one graduate degree; the Professional Science Master's in Engineering.  the curricula for the College are designed to prepare students for productive careers in technical and scientific fields or for advanced graduate study. Course work emphasizes both conceptual understanding and real world projects from local industrial partners.

The Executive Director of the Center for Business & Economic Development is responsible for six areas at SVSU: Independent Testing Laboratory, Center for Rapid Prototyping & Innovation, Center for Manufacturing Improvement, Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, Office of Continuing Education, and the Saginaw Valley Research & Development Corporation. CBED is the connection between the University and the community, providing business and community leaders with ready access to the expertise and resources of faculty and students.

The Executive Vice President for Administration & Business Affairs serves as the University's chief financial and business officer. Areas of responsibility for this division include the following: Auxiliary Services (Bookstore, Campus Dining, Student Housing Operations, Parking), Budgeting, Business Services, Campus Facilities, Conference & Events Center, Controller, Employment & Compensation Services, Purchasing, Staff Relations, and University Police. The Executive Vice President for Administration & Business Affairs also serves as the Treasurer of the SVSU Foundation.

The Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible for the assessment of academic programs, the administration of online education, and the coordination of faculty development and awards. The Associate Vice President chairs the Academic Program Assessment Advisory Board and prepares an annual academic assessment report for accreditation purposes. Other responsibilities include developing policies and procedures for online education, chairing several awards committees, and assisting with the allocation of faculty resources such as research and release time grants.

The Executive Assistant to the President/Executive Director of Public Affairs assists the President with a broad range of University administrative and community activities and directs, coordinates, manages, and serves as point of contact for special projects and events, as assigned. He also serves as planning officer for the University's strategic plan and is senior executive officer for University Communications, which produces all University publications and maintains graphic standards.  The Executive Assistant to the President/Executive Director of Public Affairs co-chairs the public affairs council and plays a coordinating role for the Center for Business & Economic Development, Continuing Education, School & University Partnerships, and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

The Dean of the College of Business & Management is responsible for four departments: Accounting, Economics, Law & Finance, and Management & Marketing.  In addition to undergraduate majors, the College offers a Master in Business Administration (MBA). Both the undergraduate and MBA programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB - International).
