Introduction
The Saginaw Valley State University Physical Education Teacher Education (PETE) program has the honor and distinction of being accredited nationally by NCATE/NASPE and at the state level through the Michigan Department of Education. The success and comfort of our teaching alumni comes from a program that is designed to prepare teachers using the same methods that we desire them to teach with once they graduate. While fun, the curriculum is also rigorous and challenging. Students who graduate are certified to teach levels K-12 in Physical Education and have a secondary level minor (we suggest biology, math or English) which will make them competitive in the marketplace.
The following summarizes the state (MDE) and national (NCATE/NASPE) standards that the SVSU Physical Education Teacher Education major and secondary minor satisfies.
