Partnership
for Regional Induction and Mentoring Education
Developing partnerships with K-12 districts to improve the induction and mentoring of novice teachers is one of the primary goals of the Title II Partnership Grant. The SVSU College of Education's teacher preparation program is stepping up in the transition from certification to the classroom and join the K-12 partners in efforts to reduce the
- Attrition rate among novice teachers
- Drain on resources used for continuous recruitment and professional development
- Undermining of academic improvement and achievement
PRIME addresses these issues in a partnership where SVSU, through the Title II Partnership Grant
- Organizes and shares training responsibilities
- Offers professional development credit
- Supports the district's planning and implementation of their mentoring program
- Aids in the development of a comprehensive and individualized framework for mentor programs
Using a transition partnering approach, individual mentoring programs will be designed to fit the context of the LEA and allow for the unique circumstances each district presents. PRIME develops a "seamless" transition into the profession for novice teachers and allow districts to focus their new teacher resources in an effective and efficient manner.
