How did Moodle enhance learning in this course? |
|
I like the
"Messaging" feature for keeping in touch with specific student
issues-- yet another way for them to reach me. Assignmwnt tool
was useful. |
|
I use Moodle pretty much as
I do Blackboard, but with a cleaner interface and other capabilities (e.g., wiki). Students have the option to, and are occasionally
required to, carry on on-line discussions building on live discussions in
class. It has also been useful on occasion as a quick way to send out
announcements. In two classes, students doing collaborative work have been
required to create wikis in lieu of printed /
electronic documents for assignments. These have been intended to extend
class work into the electronic domain more or less seamlessly. |
|
I liked the availability of
the WIKI and the fact that students can post to the Glossary. It would help
to have evaluation of student participation in the WIKI easier to do, but on
the whole the activity reports help me to understand how active each student
is being. I very much like the fact that posting to a Forum sends email to all
enrolled users automatically - in fact, that makes up for the lack of an
email feature. I like the flexibility
of format; now that I'm used to it, it makes Blackboard seem very rigid. Although I understand how to work around
it, the Moodle grade book is too much trouble - I'm using Blackboard for that
purpose, even though I'm not using it for anything else. |

It was better than
Blackboard since you could grade assignment dynamically as they came in and
the grades could automatically go into the gradebook. I like that on the
opening screen, the students could see the whole layout of the course. |
