SVSU currently holds a "College Pass" that enables our faculty to attend online courses aimed at professional development for online educators. These courses are open to all faculty members (fulltime and adjunct) and are offered as fully-online workshops.
Check the website http://www.sloan-c.org/workshop/index.asp for up-to-date information and full course descriptions.
Contact Deborah Huntley (huntley(at)svsu.edu or ext. 7013) for access codes to these workshops.
The Quality Matters program created an inter-institutional continuous improvement model for assessing and assuring the quality of online courses.
QM identified 40 elements, distributed across eight broad standards and based on research literature and national standards, shown to positively impact student learning. These elements were then incorporated into a rubric and weighted from 1 (important) to 3 (essential).
For details regarding this excellent rubric / guide, see the Quality Matters website.
