SOAR is a one day orientation program for new, incoming freshmen where you will:

• Receive academic advising and register for your fall courses
• Complete any course placement exams
• Take picture for your student I.D. during your session.
• Meet current SVSU students and fellow new Cardinals

During SOAR you will be teamed up with an Orientation Leader and a small group of students (about 12) for your day on campus. You'll also meet with an Academic Advisor who will explain degree and graduation requirements, help you define your interests and point you in the right direction on completing your first class schedule.

Worried that you aren’t sure about your major? Don’t worry!!! If you haven’t decided on a major, that’s OK. All students are required to complete general education courses, and you'll start by taking some of those.

SOAR is a mandatory program. Trust us; you’ll be glad you participated. You will meet new people, get comfortable with the campus, receive the right information on academic requirements, and more.

Need to Change Your Reservation?

If you need to change your SOAR date, you can do so online. Simply log in to Cardinal Direct and go to the "Orientation Registration" page, and select a new date.
