SVSU faculty, staff and students are encouraged to contribute undesignated gifts to provide fiscal flexibility and designated gifts for University uses, e.g., equipment, library resources, financial aid.

A proposal for fund raising will go through established channels for approval, e.g., Dean/Director, Vice President.

With approval of the appropriate Vice President, the proposed fund-raising project will be discussed by the appropriate Vice President with the Executive Director of the SVSU Foundation, who will present the same to the President for disposition. With the endorsement of the President, a fund-raising plan will be decided upon by the Executive Director of the SVSU Foundation and the party(s) seeking to raise the funds.

Among others, the fund-raising plan should answer the following questions:

  • What is the purpose of the fund raising effort?
  • What amount is to be raised?
  • Who on-campus are the potential donors?
  • Who will execute the plan to raise the funds?
  • How will the donors be approached?
  • Over what period of time will the funds be raised?

If the fund-raising goal is not reached within the time scheduled, in the absence of a decision to the contrary, the funds received will become part of the SVSU Foundation's undesignated assets. As these are charitable contributions, there can be no refunds.

Checks should be made payable to the SVSU Foundation and designated for the desired project.

Purchases will be made through standard University procedures and will become the property of the University.

Receipts will be issued for gifts exceeding $25.
