Policy
A faculty member may cancel a class or event if he/she is unable to attend due to adverse driving conditions along the route of travel to the University. Permission for cancellation must be received from the Dean or his/her designee.
Procedure
-
Between 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. the faculty member will call the Office of the Dean of:
- Arts & Behavioral Sciences
- Business & Management
- Education
- Nursing & Health Sciences
- Science, Engineering & Technology
- All of the above offices which receive notification of a class cancellation should contact the switchboard and the Office of Evening Services.
- Between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Deans' offices are responsible for posting notices of canceled classes.
- Between 4:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., the Evening Services Office should be notified of all class cancellations. Faculty members may call Evening Services.
- Evening Services will post notices of class cancellations after 4:30 p.m.
- Individual faculty members who cancel a class are responsible for notifying students for each class they teach of the class's cancellation. Secretaries, Evening Services, University Communications, Campus Facilities or other offices are not responsible for this task.
- Radio and television stations and the University weather line will announce only complete closings, not individual cancellations of events or classes.
