The Office of International Programs will be available to pick up new international students who arrive at MBS airport in Saginaw, Michigan. Please inform us via email before your arrival so that we may arrange to meet you at MBS airport. Send an email to email@example.com with the following information: date, time and flight number. We will then contact you via email to confirm that it has been received.
There will be an International Student Orientation Program the week prior to classes beginning. This will help you settle into your new environment, learn about the campus, get acquainted with the services offered to you by SVSU, take your course placement tests, register for your courses, and participate in cultural activities.
All new students are required to attend orientation. It is also possible that you may lose scholarship privileges if you do not attend.
Payments can be made payable to "Saginaw Valley State University" by either a bank draft or in advance by wire transfer. Click here for SVSU Payment and Wire Instructions (263kB). Payment can also be made by Visa, American Express or Mastercard credit cards. If you plan to make a credit card payment, please be sure to contact your credit card company in advance, so the full amount can be charged upon arrival. For wire information, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. All fees for your first semester (tuition and housing) will be due when you arrive. For complete payment instructions, please visit the Campus Financial Service Center web page.
All international students (except embassy sponsored students) are required to purchase and maintain Health Insurance Policy Information (45kB). Please note that this insurance does not include dental or vision care. Due to the high cost of health care in the U.S. we strongly recommend you visit your doctor for a medical, dental and vision check-up before you travel.
During our orientation program all students will be tested for Tuberculosis as recommended by the World Health Organization. You are not required to participate in this test if you bring your own health card with proof of a recent Tuberculosis test.
Independent Bank is available on campus for your convenience. Representatives from Independent Bank will be available at orientation if you would like to set up an account located in the US and directly available on SVSU's campus. Please note there are a number of local banks and credit unions available for your financial needs. If you would like more information, please contact the OIP.
