With the exception of nurses educated in Canada, prospective students licensed as a Registered Nurse in another country need to obtain certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foregin Nursing Schools (CGFNS) prior to applying for admission to the nursing program at SVSU. The student must ask CGFNS to send an official certification report to the SVSU Admissions Office, and must meet all other admission requirements.
CGFNS certification makes a nurse eligible to apply for a RN licensure in the United States. Information on the licensing process in Michigan is found on the official government website of www.michigan.gov.
