The Great Lakes Bay Regional MLK Celebration Committee is partnering with Michigan Blood in a service project in advance of next week’s event. As a part of the committee’s annual service project to embody the community spirit Martin Luther King Jr. demonstrated, Michigan Blood is conducting an MLK Blood and Marrow Registry Drive at its four regional donor centers.
Due to the harsh winter weather, blood donations have gotten off to a slow start in 2014, and Michigan Blood has responded by extending its drive through Wednesday, Jan. 15. The drive originally was slated from Jan. 6-13. For every person who donates, Michigan Blood will donate $10 to the Regional MLK Scholarship Program that benefits regional high school students in Bay, Midland and Saginaw counties.
