    1. A Walk in the Woods New
Sudents go on a virtual walk through a forest. Walk in the Woods is designed for third through fifth grade students to gain an appreciation of nature. Sometimes students are not able to go to a forest preserve or woods, so this brings the woods to them.

    5. Create a Foodweb
This website has students create foodchains and foodwebs. It provides arrows and organisms to drag and create their personal foodweb. Students can also print the results of their foodweb and turn in for an assignment.
    6. Crowding in Ecosystems
What happens when a plant population is too dense? Simple experiment for students to learn about mature ecosystems.
    7. Dinosaur Anatomy and Behavior

    10. Food Chains
Outstanding unit on Energy Transfer / Food Chains /Food Webs .
    11. Fun with Food Webs
Outstanding - Elementary students click and drag objects on the computer to create a food web. They can choose from artic, meadow or pond food webs. This is an wonderful activity!
    12. Gould League Food Webs
Students choose from 4 types of foodwebs and begin to play by dragging the organism into correct heading (scavenger, decomposer, carnivore, producer, so on). If you are correct the organism stays if incorrect picture will not stay. There is a hint space that will provide a clue if you click on the picture. After students complete putting the organisms in the correct category the computer creates the food chain.
    13. Habitat Maker
This activity allows a student to choose an ecosystem. The students attempts to identify the organisms that live in that particular ecosystem. Then the students can manipulate the ecosystem and observe behaviors of the organisms living there.
    14. Harcourt School Publisher Fun With Food Webs
Students choose foodweb and begin to play by dragging the organism into correct square on the food chain. If you are correct the organism stays and if incorrect picture will not stay. One food web will take approximately 2 minutes and there are 3 to choose from.
    15. Monterey Bay Aquarium
This interactive site has pictures, facts, games and activities for elementary students to learn more about our environment/habitats.
    16. Planet ARKive
This interactive site has facts, games and activities for elementary students to learn more about their environment/habitats.
    17. Planet Pals
Listed below are the vocabulary words contained in the text of this site: herbivores, carnivores, omnivores, decomposers, producers, and food chain.
    18. Botany: Plants
Several experiments for students to complete to understand all aspects of plants.
    19. ReviseWise Science: Food Chains
This is a great site that allows the students to click through animated information windows that teach the basics of food chains. Tests and worksheets for the activity as also available.
    20. Secrets @ Sea
Teachers and students are invited to log on to the world's firsts online ocean adventure learning game. Ace on the Case: Secrets is a curriculum-based adventure story for grade 4 - 7. It complements ocean-theme units of study in the classroom and enhances students learning experiences using the internet. The knowledge gained from completing these activities leads the student to the solution of the case.
    21. The Wolf and the Moose
This site is an lesson plan activity for students to role play the relationship between a predator and prey. It would be more appropriate for 5th or 6th grade. The site has suggestions for assessment.
    22. What's it Like Where you Live?
Oustanding: This site is very user frendly. It contains the different biomes of the world, freshwater resources, and marine ecosystems. It also has great resources and links to other related sites.
    23. Worm World
This site provides information on the ways worms interrelate in the ecosystem. Emphasis is on worms as "recyclers" - movie clips of birth of worm & heart beat; novel sound bytes and graphics.
  2. L.EC.E.2 Changed Environmental Effects -"When the environment changes, some plants and animals survive to reproduce; others die or move to new locations."
    1. Animal Adaptations
This is a Power Point presentation that gives examples of examples os characteristics that animals have developed to help them survive in their environment.
    2. Build An Online Habitat
Student interact building different habitats online. Grades 2 - 5
    3. Brine Shrimp Survival
This site helps sutents develop an understanding of how growth and survival of an organism depends on physical conditions; student design an artificial environment in which brine shrimp can thrive.
    4. EcoKids Chain reaction
Students read through a short tutorial and are asked to create their own food chain. After completing the food chain, they ask what would happen if one organism was removed and then shows a brief animation of what would happen.
    5. Ecology Native Species
This site provides a study that reintroduces a species and students analyze data (given to you) making graphs and answering questions about how it impacted the population of other organisms. This would be best done in groups at 4th-5th grade level. A 6 page investigation and handout provided.
    6. Great Plant Escape
The student will need to read one of six mysteries to help find clues, do experiments, and solve problems as they explore the world of plants.  The "green link" tab is loaded with resources, sites, and ideas for teaching plant units.
    7. Hatching Brine Shrimp
This site helps develop an understanding of how the growth and survival of an organism (brine shrimp) depend on physical conditions.  This is accomplished by designing an experiement to determine the optimum salinity of water needed to hatch brine shrimp.
