Introduction

The Internet sites found listed below are the result of work completed by teachers who attended the Generation II: MASER project during the 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 Summer Workshops.  Workshop participants researched science Internet sites using a set of developed evaluation criteria.  A set of Internet learning activities were found which correlated directly with the Michigan Science Content Statements and Expectations. The result is that teachers and students will be able to use the provided Internet resources as a learning tool to supplement currently available materials. Click here for more background information on the project.

Listed in the Elementary (Grades K-4),and Middle School (Grades (5-7) are links to Internet sites organized under the four Science Content  Disciplines of Science Processes; Physical Science; Life Science and Earth Science.  The High School (Grades 8-12) sites are listed under the Disciplines: Earth Science; Biology; Physics; and Chemistry. Each Internet site is listed under the Science Standard and Content Statement that it meets.

Internet sites "New" to the disk this year are marked and sites found by participants to be "Outstanding" are also identified.

The General Internet Sites are Internet sites that do not meet specific science "Content Statements and Expectations". Listed are numerous outstanding sites which contain resources that will be useful to teachers.  The "General Science Sites" contain links to science knowledge in each of the major disciplines organized by grade levels. Also found in this area are resources on Assessments, Concept Maps and Misconceptions for Science. The "General Resources Sites" contains links to science media resources, encyclopedias, multiple subject indexes, women and minorities issues, careers in science, Teacher Resources 1 (Information / Pictures / Diagrams / Movies / Videos / Animations); Teacher Resources 2 (Science Fair Projects / Science Games & Activities / Science News / Live Web Cams / Museums & Science Centers). The "Using Internet Media Resources" contains information about using Internet media resources and other general information related to that topic.
