  1. "Create, Explore, and Describe Shapes"
    1. Activities by GLCE: Geometry New
A website is designed to provide math links for students, guidance for parents, and standards based resources for teachers. You can find resources by the GLCE. Mr. Maffesoli compiled all of the links contained in this site. The linked sites themselves were created by other individuals and organizations.
    2. BBC School's MegaShapes
Outstanding  Excellent geometry site for ages 4 to 11.  Follow the Investigate link for student activities that involve multiple choice questions about familiar regular shapes and irregular shapes.  While students complete these activites, they have access to a shape book that provides drawings and information about each shape.  Click on the bouncing triangle for interactive java activities that allow students to use their knowledge about shapes, symmetry, and transformations.  Follow the teacher link for information about the skills that are covered at this website, along with printable activities and resources.
    3. Beacon Learning Center
      Outstanding
: This can be a student interactive lesson for reinforcement, or it can be used as a teaching tool for the entire class. Geo Cleo has to try to create a "shape caper". But, there is a lesson of descriptive qualities that must be known/learned first of each of these 3-dimensional objects (cylinders, cubes, rectangular prisms, and pyramids). What a wonderful reteaching activity!
    4. Geometry and Measurement
This site is all about geometry and measurement. All of the sites listed on this page are interactive for K-5. They include: Tessellate, Polygon Playground, Shape Cave, and Shape Explorer. This is an outstanding site for a variety of interactive mathematics activites.
    5. Gisele's Big Back Yard
Lower elementary students can locate items in everyday life and associate them with the geometric name of that shape. An example would be finding dice as a cube in everyday life. This is a simplistic site and makes finding the items nearly impossible. This site would work exceptionally well for low self esteem students who need a little extra practice.
    6. Making Triangles and Electronic Geoboard
This is a teacher directed site that would be good for K on up. With teacher direction the child can use an electronic geoboard to make, change, transform and explore shapes.
    7. MathsNet Interactive Shape Version 1.0
Outstanding! This site includes interactive activities for students that cover ALL of the Shape and Shape Relationship Benchmarks.
    8. RATS! Shapes
This is an interactive site for students K-3rd grade. Students are given a specific shape to watch for as a bird flying over drops shapes. The object is for the student to only catch the shape they were originally given.
    9. Sesame Street Workshop
Lower elementary students must identify and choose objects that follow a certain pattern and therefore belong into the same group. Identifying, sorting and classifying objects by attributes help students figure out which objects belong and which do not belong in a particular group.
    10. Sort Triangles
This interactive activity allows students to sort commonly recognized shapes into categories of triangles and other shapes.
    11. Sort the Shapes (Shapes)
This interactive activity allows students to sort commonly recognized shapes into categories of all right angles, some right angles, and no right angles.
    12. Sort the Shapes (More Shapes)
This interactive activity allows students to sort commonly recognized shapes by attributes such as red, not red, rectangles, and not rectangles.
    13. Virtual Manipulatives Geometry
This site contains activities for students to explore various geometric concepts using virtual manipulatives. Explanations for use and links to math standards are provided.
  2. "Explore Geometric Patterns"
    1. About Symmetry and Pattern (Field Patterns)
This site is appropriate for upper elementary grades.  Examples of shapes and letters are shown and how they create patterns and how rotating the letters create a change in the pattern.
This site is an elementary interactive narrative discussing patterns and how they are made. Students can be pattern dectctives with Adam, Shelby, and Shelby's grandfather. The students need to look for patterns throughout a picture, as well as, finishing a pattern with given choices.
    4. Funschool
Preschoolers and Kindergarteners can use this game to challenge their abilities to complete patterns. This game has 5 different levels, so each student can progressively increase or decrease the intensity as needed. This is an excellent reinforcement activity.
    5. Geometry and Measurement
This site is all about geometry and measurement. All of the sites listed on this page are interactive for K-5. They include: Tessellate, Polygon Playground, Shape Cave, and Shape Explorer. This is an outstanding site for a variety of interactive mathematics activites.
    6. Kindergarten Geometry Shapes New
The idea behind the site was to provide free online educational games for young kids. Not only to teach colors, shapes and animal names, but also to teach young users the basics of how to use a computer (such as using a mouse).
    7. Kindergarten Games New
The idea behind the site was to provide free online educational games for young kids. Not only to teach colors, shapes and animal names, but also to teach young users the basics of how to use a computer (such as using a mouse).
    8. MathsNet Interactive Shape Version 1.0
Outstanding! This site includes interactive activities for students that cover ALL of the Shape and Shape Relationship Benchmarks.
    9. Max's Math Adventures - Now - Next Patterns
Outstanding - The Summer Mystery Garden is a math and language arts game involving now - next patterns for students in grades K-2. Hosts Max and Ruthie challenge young students to solve math problems by using clues embedded in a fun rhyming poem. Students receive immediate feedback from Max and are encouraged to self-assess by comparing their answers to Max and Ruthie's. The Extension activities and Teacher Guide are very beneficial.
    10. Patterns and Picture Books
This site allows teachers to connect children's literature with the concept of patterns and their relationships.
    11. Patterns, Algebra, and Functions
This is an interactive site that has activities for sequencing for K-5.
    12. Patterns Here, There, and Everywhere
This is a unit which follows a ten day lesson plan. It involves the student in collecting and organizing real-world items into patterns. The student should be able to design a plan to solve problems using manipulatives, organizing and interpreting data, and using patterns. The unit involves station work, ideas for assessment techniques, and integration of Patterns Across the Curriculum. The student activities are not computer interactive, but are classroom activities.
    13. Proteacher - Patterns and Relationships
This site provides teachers with many resources and lesson plans pertaining to Patterns and Relationships. Activities range for grade levels K-6. The activities provide many opportunities for students to represent and record patterns and relationships in a variety of ways. This site contains teacher lesson plans.
