Science and Mathematics Extravaganza for Kids
The Summer SMEK day camps involve multiple days of coordinated mathematics and science activities often built around a theme, such as aerospace, environmental studies, or forensic science. These multi-day hands-on experiences are designed around timely topics and are meant to engage and stimulate student interest in various math and science areas. Two types of camps are offered. The Junior camp is for kids entering grades 2-4 and run for three days, while the Senior camp involves students entering grades 5-8 and run for five days.
Each camp includes a t-shirt, various take-home projects, daily mid-morning snacks, a buffet-style lunch at SVSU's Real Food On Campus dining facility, and an end of day recreation period which may include the following activities: basketball, racquetball, or swimming at the Ryder Center.
