Applications Classes for the K-8 Classroom - T.E. 490
2004-2005

The Applications courses are designed to provide SVSU pre-service, K-8 teaching candidates with a subject specific class connected to today's hands-on teaching and learning styles demanded by area school districts.

The Applications courses provide two key ingredients to the pre-service teacher:

  1. A linkage to a master K-8 teacher who will instruct the course keying in on a presentation of hands-on exercises which will stimulate and motivate future K-8 students.
  2. An outlet for a practical experience designed to allow the student to put into practice the concepts and ideas learned in the course.

Matched to a Natural Science course which the SVSU student is currently taking or has taken in the last three years, the Applications courses will stress practice over content. The student will come away from the experience with many practical ways to teach some of the core standards and benchmarks currently required by school districts in the state of Michigan.
