| Brief Description of Facility | A visit to a working rock quarry will allow students to explore fossil collecting, to view evidence of glacial action, and to learn the value of our mineral resources. The quarry has been in use for over 150 years and annually hosts 9000 students from elementary age through college level. Plant tours are by arrangement only and take approximately ½ hour to complete, then students are allowed to visit and dig around in certain sections of the quarry. A variety of fossils and minerals can be found and collected for discussion at a later time. Students must be supervised at all times, no exceptions, with a chaperone to student ratio of 1:10. |
