Brief Description of Facility

The Historical Society of Saginaw County operates The Castle Museum, a unique and significant architectural gem, listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built as a Federal post office in 1898, it reflects the French heritage of early Saginaw. HSSC provides a full spectrum of museum activities:

  • Changing and traveling exhibitions on a variety of topics; long-term exhibitions on all aspects of local history
  • Collections of more than 100,000 objects and artifacts related to historical, cultural and archaeological heritage of area furniture, costumes, and textiles, vehicles, household goods, toys, photographs and books
  • Historical preservation of the Castle Museum and its architectural and functional history
