The Saginaw Valley State University Regional Mathematics and Science Center serves students, teachers and administration of districts in Arenac, Bay, Midland, Saginaw, and Tuscola Counties and their ISDs mathematics and science initiatives. The Center provides outreach services to 33 public and 70 non-public districts in rural, suburban and urban communities. Special services such as Science Outreach Leadership Venture for Excellence (SOLVE) and Science Education in Michigan Schools Curriculum (SemsPlus) have been provided to educators in Clare, Genesee, Gladwin, Gratiot, Huron, Iosco, Isabella and Sanilac counties.
The Center has been actively involved in training over 40 local district curriculum leadership teams in science over the last seven years. Over the last two years, in cooperation with local ISDs (Saginaw, Tuscola, Midland, and Bay-Arenac), the Center has helped develop county-wide mathematics curriculum documents.
The Center is involved in and supports the four ISDs within the service area, the local community college, Saginaw Bay Watershed Initiative, DNR and EPA projects, nature centers and museums, Mid-Michigan Macro Pre-Engineering Program (M3PEP), and business and industry. These groups participate on the advisory board, volunteer services and provide financial support for the Center's programs.
