He is a three-time graduate of Wayne State as well, having earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a Master of Arts in English, and a Master of Library and Information Sciences from WSU. In addition, he earned the Wayne State University President’s Exceptional Service Award twice, in 1998 and 1999. As Electronic Resources/Serials Catalog Librarian, his responsibilities include facilitating user identification and access to the library’s growing collection of electronic journals and serials, managing activities associated with the bibliographic control of serial publications, and acting as the library’s technical contact for electronic database vendors. He will also serve as library liaison to designated academic departments, working with faculty to select materials for the library collection. In addition, he’s on duty at the Reference Desk a few hours each week, becoming familiar with our users and their information needs. A native of Grayling, Tom is
enjoying the professional opportunity this position presents to serve
the needs of SVSU students, faculty and staff.
The Library welcomed Cynthia Benner to the position of Part-time Circulation/Media
Services Assistant in November of last year. Cynthia received a Bachelor
of Arts degree from Grand Valley State University in Legal Administration
and worked in law offices for thirteen years. Most recently Cynthia has
been volunteering in the library at St. Johns Lutheran School in Midland
and plans to continue on there. She and her husband, who works in construction,
live in Midland and have two boys aged nine and eleven. Please stop by
