Zahnow Library to Provide Electronic Reserve Service

More news

Beginning this spring the Circulation Department will be able to place many course reserve items online through Blackboard. This service applies to items that can be converted into PDF format including articles, book chapters, and materials created by instructors. Using electronic reserves will allow students to access reserve items from any computer with an Internet connection 24 hours a day! Of course all items, including those that cannot be placed on electronic reserve such as books, journals, media items and computer disks, can still be placed on reserve at the Circulation Desk.

Instructors who wish to place copyrighted materials on reserve electronically or at Circulation need to get permission. Getting permission can be as easy as visiting www.copyright.com or by writing a letter to the copyright holder; the Circulation staff can advise faculty members on how to write such a letter. After receiving permission the items should be delivered to the circulation desk along with a proper citation for each item.

Electronic reserves can be accessed by simply logging on to Blackboard and clicking on the desired course or by maneuvering through the reserve module located on the library’s web page which is library.svsu.edu. Access to electronic reserves is limited to students enrolled in a given course and is free of charge.

For more information concerning electronic reserves, visit the Circulation Desk, call 989 964-4240, or beginning this May visit our updated web page.
