American Chemical Society Web Editions and Journal Archives
In
2001, the American Chemical Society’s Web Editions, which provides
online access to 28 ACS journals, was introduced to library users. Seen
as a great enhancement to print ACS journals already in the library’s
collection, the electronic format provided convenient remote access for
library users. Full-text journals in this database include Biochemistry,
Biotechnology Progress, Chemical Research in Toxicology, Environmental
Science and Technology, Inorganic Chemistry and Journal of the American
Chemical Society. With the addition of the ACS journal archives in 2003,
users can now access the full text of articles from the first issue of
all ACS journals.
Basic and advanced search options are offered on the ACS database located on the library’s Databases page at http://www.svsu.edu/library/dbases.html. Basic search options include searching by citation, author, title and words anywhere in the article. Advanced search options include limiting a search to an individual journal title, titles by subject, time frame and date range. Display options include results sorted by relevance, date and journal.
Individual ACS journal titles can also be accessed via CARDCAT, the library’s online catalog (http://library.svsu.edu) using the Journal/Magazine Index option. CardCat provides a direct link to the current and back issues of the journal title.
For off campus access users
will be prompted for their name and library bar code number.
