Groupwise Installation Instructions
Note: The following instructions to install the Groupwise e-mail client is intended for home installation only, and only on systems that have high speed internet access (dial-up users should read the notice at the bottom of this page): To have Groupwise installed or re-installed on your office computer, contact the Support Center for assistance (there is a different installation process).
Installation files are available for download. Please read the instructions carefully. Upon clicking the link to download the file, you will be prompted for your SVSU username and password. Take note of where you plan to save the file, so that you can find it later to install it.
Groupwise for Windows
- Download the GW Windows client.
- Double-click the installation file and follow the prompts
- Reboot the computer after installation
- Double-click on the Groupwise icon to launch the program (but read below first)
- The first time the client is launched, it will prompt for a password.
- Click Cancel to bring up the Novell Groupwise Startup dialog
- Enter your User ID
- Enter your Password
- Enter the Online Address: ngwnameserver.svsu.edu Port: 1677
- Click OK
Groupwise for Mac OS 10.3 and greater
- Download the Groupwise Mac client.
- Normally, the Groupwise disk image will automatically be mounted on your desktop. However, if the Groupwise icon looks like a piece of paper with a drive on it, double-click the icon to mount Groupwise.
- Drag the Groupwise icon to your Application Folder
- Click on the Groupwise icon in your Application Folder (but read below first)
- The first time the client is launched, it will prompt for a password.
- Click Cancel to bring up the Novell Groupwise Startup dialog
- Enter your User ID
- Enter your Password
- Enter the Online Address: ngwnameserver.svsu.edu Port: 1677
- Click OK
Groupwise WebAccess is recommended if your internet connection speed is poor and/or if your operating system is too old to use the latest client software. Choose Low(dial-up) and Use the basic interface settings.
