Software for Home Use

The information below will highlight software that is available for personal home computer purchase (some are free, some are listed as rental or perpetual, some offered for a low cost) for all SVSU faculty, staff, students, adjuncts, and part time employees.  Many of the discounted software offerings are the result of unique licensing agreements between SVSU and various vendors being offered through a unified online store (Academic Software Center), managed by e-academy.

PLEASE NOTE:  The university has several applications under various types of licensing available for installation on university-owned computers systems. Some are covered under site licenses, network licensing, and individually purchased packages. Please do not install personal software purchases on SVSU systems - please read details regarding Campus Software Purchases.

SPSS

The Academic Software Center linked above only provides rental options for SPSS for home use, offering various lengths of rental periods. Full-time faculty and staff should discuss their off-campus need with ITS to determine the best path/option.

Corel WordPerfect & OpenOffice (Microsoft Alternatives)


Corel WordPerfect is available for all university employees (full-time or part time, staff/faculty/adjunct) & registered students.  [More info here]

OpenOffice.org is compatible with Microsoft products, is open source, and Free.
