Secure Wireless Setup Guide for Windows Vista
NOTE: Wireless Access does not exist in housing units and is only available in certain locations on campus known as Wireless Hotspots.
Getting Started
Start --> Control Panel --> Network and Internet --> Network and Sharing Center
- Under “Tasks” select “Manage wireless networks”.
(Note: If there is a network listed as “Registration” in the “Manage wireless networks” window and you are currently unable to connect, skip down to the Connection Settings portion of this guide.)
- In the “Manage Wireless Networks” window Click add.

Now you are prompt to a window that asks “How do you want to add a network?”

Click “Manually create a network profile”
-For Network name enter: Registration
-Set Security type to: WPA-Enterprise
-Set Encryption type to: TKIP
-Uncheck: all boxes
-Click next.
Note: If the network was added you will get a window stating that you have successfully added Registration. If not you will need to make sure you followed each step again.
Connection Settings
Finalizing
-
Click Enter/select additional log on information
-Enter your SVSU User name
-Enter your SVSU Password
-Leave Logon domain blank
-
The connection process may take a while. When you are connected it will display “Successfully connected to Registration”.
