Instructional Technology Center (ITC)

 

ITC takes pride in supporting teaching with technology. All SVSU classrooms are equiped with technology. They types of technology found in the classroom are Desktop PC Podiums, Laptop Podiums or Basic Equipment. This classroom equipment grid displays what type of equipment is installed in each SVSU classroom. Communication faculty can leave rosters of students who will be sent to record speeches and interviews for review. Friday 8:00-4:30

Classroom Inspections

All classrooms will be checked at least two times per month. A campus wide check of all rooms will occur the week prior to the start of the Fall and Winter semesters. Even though comprehensive checks are performed on a regular basis, problems may arise between these periods. Instructors are encouraged to promptly report any room malfuctions using the troubleshooting phone located in the classroom. (Main Campus: x7475 or Regional Education Center: x4513)

Items checked during classroom inspections:

Rooms are also cleaned twice per calendar year; once during the Spring/Summer and once during the Winter Break. Cleanings entail taking the projector from the ceiling and wiping it off including taking out all filters and cleaning them, the podium (if present) is vacuumed and cleaned with cleaning products and all overheads are cleaned inside and out.

How to Reserve Equipment

Please complete the online reservation form, call 989-964-7475 or stop by C-156 to reserve portable equipment. Students who need equipment must complete a Student Reservation Form and have it signed by their faculty member.

** Many items are in high demand. ITC recommends reserving equipment 24 hours in advance.

Equipment Closets

If your class period extends beyond ITC hours of operation, your equipment will be placed in an equipment closet. You will need to pick up a swipe card key from ITC. If you have not reserved equipment 24 hours prior to class, ITC cannot guarantee equipment will be available or that it will be placed in a closet.

Additinal Classroom Features

ITC offers a variety of media through our AMX media distribution center. Not all classrooms have access to these media. Please contact us to be sure your room is eligible to receive the following through the system.
