Creating Email Rules
Groupwise
Vmail
Consider creating rules to filter family/friends to a Family folder, and SVSU mail to an SVSU folder. Following the steps outlined below for your email system, create a folder for "SVSU or Family-Friends" and create the rule to move messages to that folder when the From field equals svsu.edu (or other addresses that are known good addresses). For example: From = 'contains' svsu.edu or From = mom@home.net. Then, periodically review what's been moved to those folders. This should allow you to manage your inbox, saving/filing just SVSU or family/friend messages into specific folders. This should also allow you to quickly review junk mail in your inbox and possibly Select All to delete/move them quickly.

Creating a Rule
To create a rule in the Groupwise Client follow the instructions below:
- Open Groupwise
- Click on the Tools Menu, choose Rules
- Click on the New button
- Insert a Rule Name
- Define Condition
- Define the action you would like the Rule to take
- Click Save
- Make sure your new Rule is checked, then
- Click the Close button

Vmail
To create a rule in Vmail WebAcess/WebMail follow the instructions below:
- Open Internet Explorer
- Log into Vmail account
- Click on Preferences
- Click Email Filters
- Create a new filter:
- Define Name:
- Define Conditions
- Click OK

- If there is a check mark by the rule, the rule is activated.
