Services Provided
- The student ID generated for accessing the services outlined in this policy will be the same for accessing all services requiring an ID.
- Student eligibility for services will be evaluated and services discontinued as appropriate during Fall and Winter semesters, except for Cardinal-Link which is evaluated weekly and TheCard which is evaluated during Fall, Winter and Spring semesters. For eligibility purposes, students who have an incomplete or missing grade from one of the previous 4 semesters will be considered as registered for the current semester, except for TheCard and Cardinal-Link.
There are three times during the semester when certain services could be discontinued depending on eligibility (see details of eligibility for each service in items 1 - 8):
1) Daily during the Start of the Semester through the Add/Drop Period
2) At the End of the Add/Drop Period
3) Mid-Semester
(Fall ~ Nov. 1, prior to WI registration & Winter ~ March 1, prior to SP/SU registration)
- Students who have a major of TCEPD and a location of EPD (Education Professional Development) are not “officially” admitted to SVSU, but are registered in courses. These students are not eligible for any SVSU technology services. Inquiries regarding such access should be directed to the College of Education. As necessary, the College of Education will submit appropriate "Special Access Request" forms to IT Services.
- Individuals who are participating in a course via a “Listener Permit” and need access to technology services, will be handled manually not via the automated routines which enforce this policy. Individuals in this category need to have their instructor submit a “Special Access Request” to the Executive Director or Director of IT Services by completing the following online web form: Request.
- Students requiring special consideration for access to services that they would otherwise lose eligibility for based on this policy, may request such consideration via the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Student Affairs or the Office of Enrollment Management/Student Services. These Offices may then appeal to the Registrar. This does not apply to TheCard and Cardinal-Link services.
- Students who want to change their login ID due to marriage, etc., need to complete and submit a Student Data Change form to the Registrar’s Office. The ID change will be processed during the next time frame between semesters (between Fall & Winter, Winter & Spring, or Summer & Fall). Exceptions to this processing time frame will be handled on a case by case basis. The ITS Support Center will contact the student upon completion of the change.
- Alumni who do not have access to SVSU email services may request access by contacting the Alumni Relations Office. Alumni retain access to email services indefinitely. In addition to degree attaining students, College of Education certification graduates are considered as alumni (see the Alumni Email Policy for details).
