| Windows 7 @ SVSU |
| SVSU Information Technology Services will be testing Windows 7 and its compatibility within the SVSU environment. Testing includes researching identity management applications, network and application compatibility (such as: Novell, Datatel, Ultratime, other system management utilities, and various office/lab/podium application software). There will also be a comprehensive technical review of security policies and procedures that may lead to certain restrictions that are inherent with this new operating system. Microsoft employs several licensing strategies; ITS will be investigating the best strategy that fits for the campus. Past deployment practices have been based on acquisition schedules of new computer hardware purchased with OEM licenses (this will likely continue). ITS anticipates the adoption of Windows 7, with potential deployment coinciding with new computer purchases beginning in the spring/summer of 2010. Currently, there are no foreseen issues/restrictions prohibiting Windows 7 from being used on ResNet or Wireless networks. |
