Microlabs

 

In general the team provides assistance, training, coordination, and support for faculty and students using the Microcomputer Labs.

 

Specifically the Team:

  1. Is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Micro labs, securing and maintaining supplies and other items which are considered necessary for a good operating environment

  2. Works with dean’s office and faculty members to establish class scheduling of Micro labs and software to be used in the Micro labs

  3. Assist in the preparation of an annual plan for upgrading hardware and software in the Micro labs and conduct a review of the plan with faculty and University Management

  4. Develop an annual plan for providing new and continuing students with basic computer literacy skills including utilizing basic desktop software, and utilizing e-mail and the Internet

  5. Submits an annual budget for operation and estimated number of student hours required for Micro labs functions

  6. Maintains records of on-site licenses for all software used in the Micro labs and insures compliance with licensing requirements

  7. Develops manuals, aids etc. for use by faculty, students and Lab Assistants for better and comprehensive microcomputer lab use

  8. Assists in the interviewing, hiring, training and scheduling of work-study students who act as Microcomputer Lab Assistants; maintain pay records and submit time cards to Controller’s office for student payroll

  9. Assists and Maintains lab schedules, web site, and lab utilization statistics

  10. Maintains familiarity with microcomputer lab software and hardware, and software distribution techniques
