About the IEEE


The IEEE Mission

Founded in 1884, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) is a world wide technical professional society devoted to advancing the theory and application of electrical engineering, electronics and computing. The IEEE serves about 320,000 electrical engineers, scientists, and other professionals in approximately 150 countries. The IEEE is the world's largest technical professional society.

The Institute's purposes are most succinctly expressed in the mission statment:

The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers promotes the development of electrotechnology and allied sciences, the application of those technologies for the benefit of humanity, the advancement of the profession, and the well-being of its members.

Meetings:

The meetings are typically held in Pioneer Hall.

If entering Pioneer from the western end nearest the Great Lakes Dorms, use the stairs to the second floor and enter the first door to your left.

If arriving from the eastern end of Pioneer either by or thru the Science building, appropriately use the stairs to the second floor. Turn away from the windows and follow the hallway almost to the entire other end, then enter the last door on your right.
