The Biggest Winner Program is designed to provide you with a fun, educational experience that helps you work towards healthy nutrition, fitness and lifestyle goals. The program runs 10 weeks and will help you develop and sustain a plan for a healthier you!

Registration for the Biggest Winner is now closed.
Many Biggest Winner workshops are open to all enrolled students, please feel free to attend. Special Fitness Hours and certain events/activities will be for Biggest Winner participants only.

- 2/23 Ski Trip for Parks & Rec Day, Apple Mountain 4:30 - 10:00 p.m. Cost for first 25 Biggest Winner Participants to arrive on-site - $10, after 25 participants - $20 for lift ticket AND ski rental. Visit our Vspace page to configure car-pooling arrangements and receive more information.

- 2/25 Move it! Walk & Run, 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. Outside or Ryder Arena Upstairs (pending weather) Meet outside of the Fitness Center at Ryder (Bring warm clothing just in case!)

Week of March 3 - Spring Break: No Programming or Special Fitness Hours
Week of March 10 - Welcome Back!
- 3/10 Meijer Night - Healthy Shopping, 10 - 11:00 p.m. Curtiss 130. Attend a workshop including tips and tricks for healthy shopping and get the option to head to Meijer with our Health Educator after the program to put your new-found knowledge to work!
- 3/11 Resistance Training, 10 - 11:00 a.m. Curtiss 224. Our Exercise Science students will teach you the basics of resistance training to build strength and add to your workout regimen.
- 3/11 Healthy Cooking Demo, 11:30 a.m. Location TBD
- 3/11 Mind, Body & You Biggest Winner Support Meeting, 4 - 5:00 p.m. Brown 127. Get together with other participants in the program to share ideas, thoughts or gripes. Our clinical professionals will be there to guide discussion and answer questions about your emotional health and how it relates to your physical health.
- 3/11 Exercise Your Mental Health, 4 - 5:00 p.m. Curtiss 130. Join us in learning about the Mind-Body connection and how exercise not only benefits you physically, but emotionally as well.
- 3/12 Campus Safety Discussion, 7 - 9:00 p.m. Multipurpose Room. Part of staying healthy is staying safe. Administrators, staff and faculty will join together to form a panel for an open discussion forum on what is keeping us safe at SVSU in light of the NIU tragedy.
- 3/13 Nutrition Workshop, 3 - 4:00 p.m. Curtiss 130. Registered dietician, Cathy Lynn Francke, will lead a discussion on Nutrition Facts and things we can do to eat healthy foods.
- 3/14 Half-way Health Risk Appraisal and Body Analysis 8 - 11:00 a.m. Curtiss 130. Find out what kind of progress you've made in your behaviors and your body measurements!! Big Winners who participate in the Health Risk Appraisal will recieve their Biggest Winner T-Shirts and automatically be entered into a drawing for an ipod shuffle.
- 3/14 Up-All-Night Fitness Fest 2008!! 9:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m. Ryder Center. What better way to celebrate the halfway mark of the program than by hanging out with other Big Winners and having fun while staying active? We've got almost the whole Ryder to ourselves (Cardinal Gym, Auxiliary Gym, Raquetball Courts, and Pool) to hang out and play basketball, volleyball, wallyball, and whatever else you want. It will be a great time to be had by all, so mark this in your planners! Bring friends - this doesn't have to be for Big Winners only!

- 3/17 Meditation 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Brown 126. Join us and Judy Berglund to learn about the benefits of Meditation and how it affects our physical well-being.
- 3/19 Mind, Body & You Biggest Winner Support Meeting, 4 - 5:00 p.m. Brown 127. Get together with other participants in the program to share ideas, thoughts or gripes. Our clinical professionals will be there to guide discussion and answer questions about your emotional health and how it relates to your physical health.
- 3/20 Nutrition Workshop, Noon - 1:00 p.m. Curtiss 102. Our Registered Dietition, Cathy Lynn Francke, will be on hand to give information on how to eat healthy foods in the RFoC or C-Store. Any other questions will be answered, as well. Bring a sack lunch to enjoy while listening!
- 3/20 Pilates, 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. Alumni Lounge. If you enjoyed Cynthia Bushey's discussion on Exercising Your Mental Health, you'll love listening to her teach the basics of Pilates. Learn to strengthen, tone and lengthen your muscles in this relaxing method of exercise. Bring a towel or mat and a bottle of water.
