Admission Requirements

Master of Science in Nursing

  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4 point scale) or Step 1 of RN to MSN program with a GPA of 3.0 preferred
  • License to practice nursing in the United States; or eligible for Michigan license
  • A completed graduate application to include the non-refundable application fee
  • Official copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts
  • Résumé which includes education, employment, scholarship, service and professional involvement
  • One page statement of academic and professional goals
  • Two letters of recommendation, preferably from colleagues with a graduate degree in nursing
  • Personal interview
  • Additional admission criteria (e.g. standardized test results) may be required based upon interview and record review

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS must complete the international application for student admission, to include the following:

  • Official copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts
  • Résumé which includes education, employment, scholarship, service and professional involvement
  • One page statement of academic and professional goals
  • Non-Canadian International applicants must submit official results of a credentials review by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (www.cgfns.org)
  • Official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results
  • evidence of financial support

Additional admission criteria (eg: interview) may be required based on record review.
