Education Specialist

Mastering the challenge of education to change and improve lives

The Education Specialist (EdS) degree provides graduate studies beyond the master's degree and is a leadership program preparing individuals to assume professional roles in educational administration and supervision.  It is designed to enhance the academic knowledge and skills of a cadre of educational leaders prepared to meet the increasingly complex challenges of the 21st century.  Graduates will be qualified to work in a variety of educational settings, including schools, community colleges, and universities.

Individuals interested in obtaining an Education Specialist degree will complete 21 credit hours of core course work and 9 credit hours in one of the specializations listed below. (30 credits)

Accreditation

The College of Education is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).  Saginaw Valley State University is approved as a teacher preparation institution by action of the Michigan State Board of Education.
