"I was a bit anxious heading back to school in May 2001. I wasn't being challenged by my job as a sports copy editor and designer, I was unsure of my future in the ever-changing world of media and I needed something to rejuvenate my career.
What I found at SVSU was a community of teachers, students and administrators that provided me with the expertise I needed to make myself ready for the changes I've encountered in my job and the ones that haven't even taken place yet.
As a group leader for several projects, I learned the invaluable skill of how to manage and communicate with an entire team. A few years after graduation, the knowledge I learned in this program helped me land the sports editor position at The Journal.
I can honestly say my role at The Journal changes everyday. Five years from now, my job description likely will need to be completely rewritten. But I'm not as anxious about my future as I once was. SVSU provided the discipline I need to constantly stay ahead of the
curve in a fast-paced multimedia environment and a tight-knit network of friends that I will always be thankful to have."

The Communication and Multimedia program at Saginaw Valley State University does more than simply teach a new set of skills. It has changed the way I approach every challenge, whether it is learning a piece of software or addressing the various legal and cultural issues that we face in the communications industry today. It has given me invaluable experience, both in self-initiative and the dynamics of working as part of a collaborative group ensemble."
