The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program provides opportunities for academic preparatio
n and professional renewal for practicing educators and increases elementary and secondary teachers' knowledge and understanding of the learning process and their repertoire of teaching methods and skills. Additionally, it offers teachers the opportunity to increase their competence in various subject area specializations.
The following endorsements are combined with the Master of Arts in Teaching degree programs. Students seeking an endorsement in one of these areas must apply to the MAT program. Most coursework taken for the endorsement is applicable toward completion of the MAT degree.
Early Childhood Education - National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
Elementary Education - Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI)
Reading Education - International Reading Association (IRA)
Special Education - Council for Exceptional Children (CEC)
Adapted Physical Education - National Consortium for Physical Education and Recreation for Individuals with Disabilities (NCPERID).
