These finger exercises were given to me by my teacher, Harold Bennett. They are not published, unfortunately! They are wonderful for teaching superb technique. There is a group of 13 of them, which contain 12 exercises in each group. In other words, each exercise is played on all 12 chromatic notes. I am going to update this monthly; therefore, only giving one finger exercises per month.

Set 1: C#, D, C#, C.
Set 2: C#, D, C, D.
Set 3: C#, C, D, C.
Set 4: Just 3 notes: C, C#, D. Watch out that you see the difference between the 4 sets.
REMEMBER, they have to be played on each step of the chromatic scale, AND - in all 3 octaves!
Set 5: Backwards of 4: D, C#, C.
Set 6: The 1st time you see whole steps! D, E, D, C
/ Eb, F, Eb, Db, and so on through all the notes.
Set 7:
More whole steps: D, E, C, E / Eb, F, Db, F, and so on!
Set 8: D, C, E, C / Eb, Db, F, Db.
Set 9: E, D, C / F, E, D, and so on.
Set 10: Just the opposite: C, D, E
/ D, E, F, and so on.
Set 11: Eb, G, Eb, C
/ E, G, E, C#. You play this combination of notes at least 6 times, slurred. No tonguing. After you have learned them smoothly slurred, you can double tongue them. Play them evenly!! Also, practice them in all 3 octaves. The 1st one can be done 4 octaves, if you please. After you finish C#, D, C#, C, then go on to D, Eb, D, C#, and so on up the chromatic scale.

GOOD luck and happy practicing. If you do not under stand this, feel free to e-mail me at: laurenrongo@hotmail.com
