GLBRYLI ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

Since the GLBRYLI’s 10th Anniversary in 2014-2015, the President and the Provost of SVSU together authorized ten $1,500 scholarships to be awarded to students graduating from the youth leadership institute and enrolling in SVSU as freshman. The criteria for selection of these recipients were developed by SVSU’s Office of Admissions and are as follows:

  • Recipient must be an active participant in the Great Lakes Bay Regional Youth Leadership Institute
  • High school cumulative GPA and ACT scores may be considered
  • Financial need may be considered

There were nine scholarship awards given:  five recipients were from Saginaw County, two from Midland County, and two from Bay County.  The high schools represented were Swan Valley, SASA, Sanford-Meridian, Chesaning, John Glenn, Midland HH Dow, Arthur Hill, All Saints, and Carrollton.  Five of the nine scholarship recipients were from the GLBRYLI 2014-2015 session, and four were from this 2015-2016 session.  All nine of the recipients also received SVSU academic scholarships (which require a minimum of 3.0 GPA and 22 ACT score), and of these scholarships, three were President’s Scholarships, four were Founder’s Scholarships, one was a Dean’s Scholarship, and one was a Cardinal Scholarship.
