Annually, the Office of Diversity Programs helps to recognize SVSU students, student organizations, faculty, and staff that have contributed in a significant way to advancing diversity, leadership, and stewardship in the University and the community at large.

The Ruben Daniels Community Service Award is named in honor of Mr. Ruben Daniels, whose life exemplified the highest recognition of employee community involvement and service.
The Roosevelt Ruffin Award Program was created to promote and encourage support of diversity by recognizing individuals and/or groups of individuals at SVSU who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and creativity in the area of diversity.
In celebration of the GLBRYLI’s 10th Anniversary in 2014-2015, together the President and the Provost of SVSU authorized ten $1,500 scholarships to be awarded to students graduating from the youth leadership institute and enrolling in SVSU as freshman.
