Those interested in seeking a teaching certificate in Elementary Education must select two content minors from the three content areas listed below or a Social Studies major, and complete a planned program. The planned program is in the course catalog established by the College of Education for completing General Education requirements, Basic Skills requirements and approved majors and minors for teachers.
The planned program is in the course catalog established by the College of Education for completing General Education requirements, Basic Skills requirements and approved majors and minors for teachers. As a result, the application process is accomplished in two-steps:
STEP 1 - Before you can apply for admission to the Teacher Education program, you must be admitted to the University. If you have not applied and been admitted to the University, please visit http://svsu.edu/apply
STEP 2 - Pre-Elementary Education students must attend a mandatory Pre-Education seminar prior to admission to the Teacher Education Program (TEP).
STEP 3 - Students must apply and be accepted into the teacher education program prior to enrollment in 300-level professional studies courses. The requirements listed below must be completed or in progress for application to the teacher education program. The following must be successfully completed prior to filing an application with the College of Education:
