About the Regional Education Center - Oakland

Saginaw Valley State University offers programs in education in Macomb and Oakland County. These sites have been designed to meet the needs of K-12 educators, administrators, and scholars throughout Michigan. The goal of the SVSU Regional Education Centers is to centralize and further develop all efforts that affect the quality of teacher education, preparing teachers to use technology effectively, apply best practice within state and national standards, and address classroom diversity.

The Regional Education Center - Macomb is located in Chesterfield Twp., Michigan. The facility houses graduate programs and accelerated certification education programs at the elementary and secondary levels. Computer laboratories and distance learning opportunities in the facility prepare teachers to use technology effectively and provide innovative professional development opportunities in the area.

The Center offers close to 50 graduate courses a semester in Educational Leadership and Teacher Education: Early Childhood Education, Reading Education, Elementary, Middle School, Secondary Level Classroom Teaching, Instructional Technology, and Special Education. Graduate courses may also lead to an Education Specialist degree, Director and Supervisor of Special Education approval as well as endorsements in Early Childhood, Middle Level, Learning Disabilities, Cognitive Impairment, and Emotional Impairments.

The Regional Education Center - Oakland is housed in the Niles Center, 201 W Square Lake Road in Troy, Michigan and offers a variety of courses for practicing educators and administrators.
