Computer Science (NR)

This program has been prepared for students who are already certified at the secondary level and are seeking an additional endorsement in a subject area. This endorsement is also available to students who have earned a baccalaureate degree and are seeking initial teacher certification at the secondary level. This endorsement is available to undergraduate students but is not part of a university degree program and can only be used for certification purposes.

Requirements for Completion of Endorsement

  1. Successful completion of the Computer Science Michigan Test for Teacher Certification. Registration booklets are available on MTTC's website.
  2. Successful completion of the following coursework:


    CS 105 Introduction to Computers and Programming 4
    CS 116 Computer Programming I 4
    CS 160 Microcomputer Software 3
    CS 146 Visual Basic NET Programming 3
    CS 216 Computer Programming II 4
    EDL 305 Computer Applications in the Secondary & Middle Schools
    (ETD 622 is an appropriate substitute)
    3
    CS 190 Topics in Computer Science 1-3

Total number of semester credit hours required: 22

Upon completion of all coursework requirements and the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification in Computer Science, students will need to submit a completed Endorsement Application and a photo copy of their M.T.T.C. results to the SVSU College of Education Certification Office to add this subject area to their teaching certificate.
