Transfer of Credit

The maximum number of transfer credits accepted for a graduate degree program in the College of Education may not exceed 9 credits. The minimum acceptable grade for transfer to a graduate degree program is a "B-" or its equivalent. All credits and requirements toward a master’s degree, including transfer credit, must be completed within seven years prior to the date on which the degree is to be conferred.

The student must complete a petition form for each request and submit it to their program advisor for signature.

Official transcripts from the institution where credit was earned must be on file in the Graduate & Teacher Education Admissions Office before transfer credit can be posted to the SVSU transcript.

Students who plan to enroll in the "approved" course must make arrangements with the institution where course is being taken to send the official transcript to the Graduate & Teacher Education Admissions Office as soon as the course is complete. Graduation will be delayed if transcripts are not received in a timely manner. It is recommended that the student contact the Graduate & Teacher Education Admissions Office at 989-964-4057 or 1-800-968-2540 (option #3) to confirm receipt of the transcript.
