Applicants for the ACE Program who hold a baccalaureate degree, are able to complete Teacher Certification in one academic year. (18 months for Special Education majors.) The full time ACE program begins in August. No ACE program begins in January. The ACE Program provides Elementary, Secondary and Special Education students with an intensive, year-long, full-time field experience which encompasses Student Teaching and Substitute Teaching during the day. Additionally, students complete Professional Studies Courses in the evenings.
All interested candidates for the ACE Program must attend an information seminar prior to scheduling an appointment with an advisor in the College of Education. For seminar dates go to the ACE web-site.
All candidates for the ACE program must meet the requirements for Admission to the Teacher Education Program at SVSU. ACE applicants apply to the Teacher Education Program in September and January to begin the following summer.
Once admitted to the Teacher Education Program, students must fill out an ACE Student Teacher Application. Elementary students will be filling out a TE 420 application and Secondary students will be filling out a TEMS 422 application.
