Volleyball team drops below .500 in GLIAC

The SVSU volleyball team was shutout for the third straight match on Saturday, losing a 30-17, 30-19, 30-27 decision at No. 23 Findlay.

The Lady Cardinals did not have a player reach double digits in kills, while the Oilers had three, led by Erin Puthoff's 21. Findlay dominated SVSU in that aspect, totaling 59 kills to the Cards' 27.

SVSU hit just .090 for the match. Freshman Allison Schlinkert led the way, hitting .286 and notching nine kills. Junior Amy Howard had 15 assists, while senior Ashleigh Hubbard contributed with 13 digs.

After starting the conference season 4-3, SVSU is now 4-6. The Cardinals have a chance to get back to .500 with a weekend series in Pennsylvania. SVSU plays Mercyhurst, 1-9 in GLIAC play, on Friday before playing Gannon, which is 2-8 in the conference.
